Master Thomas Meehan
Master Thomas Meehan exemplifies Black Belt Excellence and has made it a personal mission to continue to spread the virtues and values of Martial Arts to students of all ages. Earning his Fourth Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do in 2023, he has continued to push himself throughout his martial arts journey to better not only himself, but also all those he interacts with – whether they are students, peers or instructors.
Master Meehan started his training in Unified Tae Kwon Do under Grand Master Kee Bu Park in Spring, TX, not only earning his Black Belt but also becoming an instructor and opening his own school in northern Houston in 2013. Over the course of the years, Master Meehan expanded his personal training as well as his curriculum to include Brazilian Ju Jitsu, offering students a well-rounded experience in their martial arts training. He also continued to push himself and compete in tournaments, taking First Place in numerous tournaments from 2011 through 2017.
During this time Master Meehan started working with local daycare, preschool and elementary schools offering classes to students as young as 3 years old to help keep them active, improve their confidence and institute structure and order in their lives. Many of these students transferred to training in more formal classes and are still active in martial arts today!
Always looking for ways to expand his and his student’s training, he partnered with Master Brad Bezoni and became a part of Fighting Dragon Tae Kwon Do in 2023, adding his own experience and background while taking advantage of additional opportunities as part of the International Martial Arts Council, The Karate Association and Chunjido International. He continues actively training and working with students daily, both in the studio as well as through his continued daycare and after school programs and working with students who are looking for that extra bit of training through online Zoom training sessions.
His drives and passions aren’t just limited to martial arts, as he has been active in a number of local bands around Houston. He continues to drive excellence by being a part of these groups, with different bands opening for nationally touring artists as well as playing venues including the House of Blues. He uses both his music and martial arts to help those that need it, from sponsoring an annual Toys for Tots drive to offering guitar lessons to students wanting to learn.
In 2025 Master Meehan was also inducted into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame as Instructor of the Year in recognition of his years of teaching and leading.
"I loved the physical challenge when I was younger, I love watching the students learn now."
